Deadpool Kills the Marvel (Cinematic) Universe

Quality of the Films & Shows Recently

I listen to alot of podcasts, and it seems like alot of people are really disapproving of the quality of the content-citing poor writing, neglect of source material, and oversaturation of content via streaming and the cinema. I agree with it. But I'm not here to bash it, as I do still have hope for the future. I came here to discuss what topic a book I love by Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead, makes aware- if the ownership of a property is the property of the creators v the people v the corporation. Those of you who haven't read the book, I highly suggest it, it's about the free will of a creator to just not produce for the masses and how the executives who have the power of marketing and defamation can stunt the minds of creators. I think of this often when I think of media Giants, and their original intended creators, like Stan Lee to Marvel to Disney and/or Sony to the media outlets that discuss it. I also think often about how YouTube creators overemphasize the echo cha

Endgame Emotions

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and some of it may come down to how poorly the MCU has been trending lately, but I’m not sure I’ve ever had a pocket of time where I was happier than when I was gearing up for and then watching Infinity War and Endgame in theaters. That’s not to say I’m unhappy in life, but I rewatch endgame and I cry every time because I won’t ever get to be in that moment watching the last ten+ years of my life wrap up at once. So much emotional investment, so much character love and storytelling that got me through challenging times of my life, and it came to such a perfect conclusion. And while I can love it for what I got from it (don’t cry because it’s over, be happy because it happened), I will always miss that once in a lifetime feeling I got in the theater that day and right after it. Marvel may be trending downwards, and we may never get that high again, but I’ll never be anything but thankful to them for giving that chance to me back then. It was

Theory: Doctor Doom will kill Kang

(NOTE: THE THEORY MENTIONED BELOW IS ONLY APPLICABLE IF KANG IS THE VILLAIN FOR AVENGERS 5 AND DOOM IN SECRET WARS) If Kang is main villain of Avengers 5, then there's a way to introduce Doctor Doom for secret wars at the end of the movie. The heroes are lying on the ground, defeated and injured by Kang. Kang is about to kill them. He is standing and insulting the heroes. Then, suddenly, a portal opens behind him. He gets stabbed by a weapon from the back. A voice says, “You can rest, they are mine”. Kang falls on the ground and we see Doom appear from a shadow. Thus, the movie ends. Now, why will Doom kill Kang? I believe that Doom wants to capture the heroes and send them to battleworld for Secret Wars so that the heroes from different universes can fight each other. So, he had to kill Kang so that Kang can't kill them. Another reason may be Doom wants Kang's time travel powers. The secret wars movie can start when the heroes are trying to escape but Doom captures th

Are we supposed to care about Maria Rambeau?

Her appearance in Captain Marvel and WandaVision was fine. Then she showed up again in MoM and The Marvel cameo/very minor role. Are we supposed to care about her character when 2/4 of her appearance was very random and minor? submitted by /u/ActiveAd4980 [link] [comments]

Deadpool 3 will NOT save the MCU

The reason I say this is because the MCU doesn't need saving. I already know the comments aren't going to agree, but it literally doesn't need saving as much as you guys say it does. One thing I've noticed is how people praise something one minute and then switch up and go right back to saying "The MCU is dead". Wakanda Forever released and got so much praise and was a success, but now it's like people forgot about it being a big success and treat the movie like it doesn't exist, this happens every time. It's this ongoing cycle that won't stop. We'll be hearing a lot of "The MCU is back" and "The MCU is dead for a long time. Plus, people treat the MCU like it's been doing so badly recently but it's all a over exaggeration. Alot of phase 4 was actually received positively upon release. Some bad sure, and mixed, but id say at least 70% of the projects we've gotten has been positive. Marvels not on as big of a d

With the multiverse saga also heavily incorporating time travel, do you think the mcu will do any of those dark timeline stories in the future?

Like with the X-men, days of future past, Age of Apocalypse, that arc where white pheonix saves it all in the end, or more recently Sins of Sinister. Do you think this saga will kinda burn out any timeline stories for the foreseeable afterwards? submitted by /u/AcceptableAd8472 [link] [comments]

I feel like rocket is not as smart as the gotg3 says he is

Now to point out i do think rocket is a Genius there is no doubt about it, but I think the harvesting rocket’s brain was just a excuse, because H.E (high evolutionary) was still mad that even though he “created” rocket he still figure out something that H.E couldn’t. Like H.E is so obsessed with perfection and being better than everyone that just the thought of someone like rocket who he’s considered as his defective experiment, did one thing better than him, convinced himself that rocket might be smarter than him. submitted by /u/Difficult_Man3 [link] [comments]

Do you want Wanda to utter her 'famous words' in the MCU?

Everyone who is familiar with The Scarlet Witch/ Wanda in comics, knows she utters the, "No more Mutants" line and what comes after. Do you want them to incorporate that into the MCU at some point? submitted by /u/MHullRealtr77 [link] [comments]

If the next saga will be mutant focused, who would you like to see the overarching villain/event be?

I think it would be cool to see the Dark Phoenix storyline be done right once and for all, and I think it could bring a lot of characters together that aren’t exactly x-men related, since it dives into the cosmic side with the phoenix force and the Shiar empire. It could potentially lead into an Avengers vs X-Men movie as well. submitted by /u/1tsYourBoyRoy [link] [comments]

WTF is wrong with James Gunn?!

Watching Guardians of the Galaxy 3....how in the world did he get away with making this movie? The implied animal torture and abuse. I know, not real animals, but still. I haven't cried this much in years, not even with Love and Thunder. FWIW this is the first of a long line of raccoons I care for on my property including hand-feeding them. EDIT: I OBVIOUSLY know the intent...I just really love raccoons a lot so it hurt. I'll be OK. https://preview.redd.it/ijgrj1ekudkc1.jpg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b856cd2717b810824ca3f54502f41e14aec858d3 submitted by /u/shawnsblog [link] [comments]

Floating to the ground and bird’s eye view backflips- what else always looks inexplicably bad?

Something that always sticks out to me in every MCU movie that has it is when characters float to the ground with that weird one leg up, one leg down thing. Has nobody on set ever said that it always looks bad? It’s always obvious that the actor is on wires, and clearly looks very different from when CGI is used in the same situations. It’s crazy to me that a better system hasn’t been worked out. I also don’t know why bird’s eye view backflips are ever used- they never look good. Black Panther (car chase) and Spiderman: No Way Home (bridge scene) stick out in my mind, but I’m sure there are others. Is there anything that you guys get stuck on like this? submitted by /u/ChBowling [link] [comments]

If Thunderbolt Ross and Cassie can get recasted why not Kang or T’challa ?

I don’t get it why do characters that don’t really matter that much to the MCU get their stories continued but two important characters can’t? It makes no sense. submitted by /u/Windwarrior27 [link] [comments]

If not in secret wars or multiverse saga then In which saga we can see Dr Doom as big bad?

As we don't have enough time to setup doom for the secret wars And if he's not the main villain in the secret wars then in which storyline do you see him as main villain? Because doom deserve a proper saga. He just can't be used as a one and done villain thing. submitted by /u/Balram24 [link] [comments]

To the people who are worried about Eric Pearson polishing the Fantastic Four script: don't. If there's one thing he's good at, it's polishing and doctoring scripts - A rundown of Eric Pearson's history inside the company and his very active involvement throughout the entire MCU

For those out of the loop, there was a new THR article yesterday which revealed the fact that Eric Pearson is polishing the FF script before production starts this Summer. The article credits Eric Pearson as the writer of Black Widow and Ragnarok, and that information is what most news sites and social media pages ran with, forgetting to mention Pearson's work as a script doctor inside Marvel Studios. As a teenager, Eric Pearson aspired to be an actor, but he was "pretty bad at it" (his words), so he studied to be a screenwriter instead. After constant failure to break into the industry for a few years after college, he was ready to move out of Hollywood, when Marvel Studios, after the great success of Iron Man and the Disney buy-out, created the Marvel Writer's Program in 2009, to groom in-house writers. The program asked young writers to choose 1 of the 3 D-list Marvel characters and pitch movies around them. The options were Cloak and Dagger, Eternals and Ares

X-Men 97 doesn't belong on this sub

Because it isn't part of the MCU, it's a standalone show, and it's been explicitly said it will not even crossover with the MCU like the FoX-Men and SPUMC did (which, despite their connection with MCU, are also not included on this sub) If you wish to make an argument that it should be included because it is produced by Marvel Studios, then I must wonder why Spidey and His Amazing Friends isn't also promoted on this sub? That's also a Marvel Studios production. But we know why: Because it's not a part of the MCU but a standalone kids' show, just like XMen 97. submitted by /u/Junior-Success-8964 [link] [comments]

Just watched guardians of the galaxy vol 3 as a father of a daughter that's a big mcu fan and holy shit

I am not a big fan of Marvel, but my daughter is a big MCU fan, so we watched Infinity War and Endgame a few weeks ago, and we were scrolling through suggestions on Disney Plus when we saw Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and thought, Why not? I am a 39-year-old grown ass man and I am a guy that never cries at movies ever, and this is the first movie that ever made me cry, not to mention an animated fictional character as a fake raccoon, but this was the first comic book movie to ever make me cry, seeing how Rocket was tortured at the opening scene by high evolutionary and seeing the friendships he made with his friends Layla teefs and floor and the flashback scene in heaven and how he realised he was raccoon after all. That part made me sob, and I have never ever cried so much in a movie before.Am I the only guy who cried at this movie? submitted by /u/NoContract5958 [link] [comments]

How would you feel if Disney World/Land was somehow shown/represented in the MCU?

Considering it’s fairly a Meta (or whatever) kind of move I’d imagine it would be only possible within a Deadpool picture. I was zoned out and day dreaming my last massage thought around it a bit. We can apply some movie and plot magic and let’s say Deadpool and whatever friends need a fast in the moment escape using some time/space slipping device akin to the end of Deadpool 2 (or maybe it’s America Chavez? ) d Deadpool yells to get them out of there, “WHERE!?” Yells America, DP: “I don’t care, the happiest place in the universe! Just do it fast!” And then bam they portal or whatever and are found central plaza of magic kingdom. Deadpool then finishes w the punchline of “happiest place on earth is good enough”. It’s Barebones but the idea is there and there’s a lot of flavor you could add to it. Such asssssss: •I’d imagine an MCU Disney would have MCU level security for their guests so having Ultron bots or starks robot legion (but with metal Mickey ears) come and try and detain c

Earth’s defences against cosmic threats

I was watching the Marvels today (I couldn’t see it in the theatres cos I was buried in work and it didn’t last very long here), and it got me wondering- if someone were to come for Earth’s sun who do we have at present to deal with such a threat? Thor is elsewhere. Spiderman / Star Lord / Shuri & Wakanda / Imperial Rex / Ant Man are either not equipped (most cant even breathe in space) for such a battle or can’t make it on time. I don’t even know where Dr Strange is. Is he on earth or is he elsewhere with Clea. There is Wong but is that it? submitted by /u/sunnykhandelwal5 [link] [comments]

I finally sat down and watched the Marvels. I was hesitant to, but I decided to watch with an open mind, and I'm glad I did.

It was bad. Really just poorly put together. A ton of mediocre performances. Script is just slapped together. I don't care about the characters. I don't care about the stakes. It's not that the jokes don't land, they don't register as jokes. This is the worst marvel movie I've ever seen this post was blocked during the days of the megathread, but now I see they let all the postive review up again (still), lets see if this one stays. submitted by /u/vonnegutsdoodle [link] [comments]

Blade & The Midnight Suns

Image
Fans had issue with the scattershot feel of post Endgame new character intros. MCU has had greatest success with team ups. Iger wants big franchises up front. Id like to see Marvel Studios pause the Blade production and replace it with a Midnight Sons film that brings in Moon Knight, Elsa etc. Third team alongside Thunderbolts and (New) Avengers (fourth alongside X-Men..?) The solo Blade film, rumoured to be a period piece, hand it over to the new Marvel Animation and create a canon, voiced by Ali, Blade Animated Feature. Could be the start of a series of animated Blade stand alones set in different periods of (MCU) history. We’d get a Midnight Sons film asap. And we’d get a series of canon Blade features that could wind up numbering far more than we’d ever get in live action. submitted by /u/carinakin [link] [comments]

My pitch for Thor 5

Image
Poster by Me With there being a high chance of Thor 5 going in a darker direction than Ragnarok and Love & Thunder, I've thought about a potential pitch for the next film in the Thor saga, and how I'd pursue it. Odinson is the title I'd give Thor 5; this is an R-rated idea, and in addition to a more serious and grounded tone, is darker and more violent than its predecessors. This is written as Chris Hemsworth's final performance as the God of Thunder. As for the plot, this takes place several years after Love and Thunder, where an ageing Thor suffers from several health issues as his Asgardian physiology is failing; he and his now pre-teen adopted daughter Love live in hiding in Las Vegas, where Thor works as a limousine driver. It is revealed that Hercules and the Olympians laid waste New Asgard and slaughtered the remaining Asgardians on Earth, and as a result, no new Asgardians have been born in nine years (owing to the destruction of Asgard and Thanos

What happened to the movies?

So I'm currently watching The Marvel's and is it just me, or does every movie look worse then the one that came before? Usually I'm not one to point it out, but damn, that movie looks like dog shit. I didn't watch any of the recent stuff except Loki, which looked quite well in comparison to anything recent. I also noticed Deadpool's suit looking a bit wonky in the trailer, so what's happening? Like a lot of you guys i saw the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer and i nearly painted my room white when i saw the latter on-screen. Look at him! He’s beautiful! But then, i got to thinking about what this could mean. Just last November, we got that movie that you all totally went to see, The Marvels , where Beast showed up in the post-credits stinger. He looked nothing like in the movies, though he was still voiced by Kelsey Grammar Remember that movie everyone definitely loved and adored, Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness ? There’s a Professor X variant who’s a near exact match of his Animated Series portrayal, right down to the weird yellow chair he’s got and that theme tune that made my nipples harden with excitement. As a matter of fact, Marvel is VERY fond of that song as of late, even bringing it back for Ms Marvel of all things when they made the very, very, very, VERY stupid choice of making her a-…im getting off topic. Perhaps their way of not stepping on

Something odd in my recent 2nd watch of The Marvels.

When Carol is going back through memories and she looks at the memory of her conversation with Maria on her porch about her cancer coming back and her watching Goose she says it's just until Monica gets back. To which Carol says "She blipped." I don't think it was being called the blip until AFTER people returned. Because no one knew anyone would ever be back. It wasn't a blip at that point, it was just a universe wide mass murder as far as anyone knew. She should have instead said "She's gone." Did anyone else catch this or think this was weird? submitted by /u/boardgamejoe [link] [comments]

What did you think about the funeral scene of Black Panther 2?

I honestly found it disrespectful at 1st. Some people were kind of mean to me when I said I found it disrespectful and never even bothered to try to understand why I found it disrespectful. I'm pretty sure anybody would've found the scene disrespectful at 1st. I initially found it disrespectful because everybody was dancing like if it was a festival on what was supposed to be a sad event and I thought everybody was like "Oh look the King died! Let's dance at his funeral". I now realize Africans don't see death as something sad and now I don't see it like that Anyways. The point is that I don't find it disrespectful anymore. As T'Challa said "Death is not the end" (I had forgotten about that line when I watched the movie) submitted by /u/NolanLover [link] [comments]

Enough Fan Fears

I truly believe the fear of ruining a good thing is the biggest hurdle for fans to embrace the multiverse saga. *Not defending the entire saga just the multiverse projects & the fears of doing more. “No stakes in death” Thanos seemingly died in infinity war twice. In Endgame he died in the first act & his variant played the antagonist the remainder of the movie. Still held as the one of the greatest MCU movies & villain. Gamora died in infinity war, her variant showed up in endgame & vol. 3, both films are considered top tier. Vision died in infinity war & co-stared in the successful wandavision show. Loki died in infinity war & his variant has arguably the best MCU series/ character arcs. “To much multiverse will get old” Loki season 1 & 2 No way home Multiverse of madness What if season 1 & 2 All of which were deemed good or at least entertaining. And the most anticipated movie of the year is Deadpool 3. These fears fans have are understa

Unpoplar opinion

Deadpool 3 looks promising, but I hate multiverse movies, I really hope we don't get a multiverse movie for a very long time. Very exhausting movies, and honestly No Way Home was mid (7/10 but I think they can pull off Deadpool 3, a very rare occasion of a multiverse that's going to be good. submitted by /u/Voonice [link] [comments]

Phoenix force = infinity stones

Ok so in the MCU they often condense comics ideas to be more streamlined so I was thinking, what if they made it so the phoenix force was actually the new form of the unity stones after they were separated into atoms - they kinda reformed into the phoenix force. This would make sense as the phoenix force is kinda the scorer of life in the universe and in a way, the infinity stones are aswell. This idea came from my own rewrite where the x gene was activated by the snap so it works better in my rewrite but still wanted to see what u lot thought submitted by /u/Jumpy-Air-6614 [link] [comments]

What if…? Loki Season 3 was an anthology series narrated by the God of Stories

Spoilers below if you haven’t seen Loki’s series or Marvel: What if…? I was a little late to the party in watching Loki S2, just finished it last night, and wow… what a satisfying conclusion to the show! But it left me thinking this doesn’t feel like an ending, more like a beginning. Post-Avengers Endgame, things have felt a little lacklustre. There’s been a few great shows, couple of good movies (and of course the phenomenal Spider-Man NWH) but there has also been many flops that I won’t detail, but there’s a lot. It feels almost like they’re going through a trial phase to test audience responses to certain characters or plots. They nailed it on the head with What If—If they had taken that format for live action after endgame and used it to build a team like the ‘Guardians of the Multiverse’ to fight a multiversal threat like Infinity Ultron it would have been pretty epic. Plus, more live action Captain Carter is a basic human right… but I digress. Now that he plays a similar role

“The Marvels” was exactly what I wanted it to be - a welcomed return to form for the MCU.

This is exactly what I wanted The Marvels to be! So much of Phase 4 has felt heavy in themes and lengthy in runtime, so this quippy, quick-moving flick felt like something of a welcomed return to form for the MCU. There is plenty of intertextual recapping, so even if you don’t do the homework Marvels hopes you do, it’s pretty easy to follow. I loved the chemistry between the leads – Iman Vallani is pure delight as Ms. Marvel, and her exuberance gives Brie Larson’s more stoic Captain Marvel a better energy to work off of. For the first time in a while, I actually feel like the movie could have benefited from another fifteen minutes, as the pace keeps the plot moving, but there are a couple storylines that left somewhat hanging or are tied up off screen with one throwaway line that I would have liked to see play out on screen. This isn’t the best Marvel movie you’ve ever seen, but you’ll be smiling the whole time. submitted by /u/CatwickBosecat [link] [comments]

Avenger Initiative

Who is the most popular MCU character?

If you talk about comics I'm sure Spiderman would win so I was curious and asked a couple friends what their opinion is on who was the "best" character or the one they remember the most and most of them was between Ironman and Tobey's spidey. None of them picked recent spidermans or recent heroes, most of them still think Tobey spidey is the best and their most rewatched movies, maybe it's just nostalgia speaking maybe it's not. For me it's between Tobey's spidey and Cap America, I didnt like Cap in the comics at all, i never read or cared but the MCU version was really cool for me. Will Deadpool 3 become the highest grossing R Rated film of all time?

There’s no doubt about it that Deadpool 3 is almost everybody's most highly anticipated film of the year. And with the trailer getting closer, I think we can expect greatness one way or another. Which begs to my most interesting question. As of right now, Joker (2019) currently has the record of being the highest grossing R Rated film ever. Making a billion dollars worldwide. And we know for certain Deadpool 3 will certainly make big banks once it comes out. But can it beat Joker's record? Perhaps make 1 billion and 300-500 million dollars or more? Anyone else remember Saturday morning cartoons? If Marvel is capitalizing on nostalgia, why not go all the way with it? Early in the morning, like 6-8am PST would be great. Then it would air across the West in the morning and in the evening/night across the East. (Australia would wake up to Sunday morning cartoons.) I feel like that results in fewer people around the world trying to avoid spoilers than for shows that drop in the PST evening hours. Idk.
