What if…? Loki Season 3 was an anthology series narrated by the God of Stories

Spoilers below if you haven’t seen Loki’s series or Marvel: What if…?

I was a little late to the party in watching Loki S2, just finished it last night, and wow… what a satisfying conclusion to the show! But it left me thinking this doesn’t feel like an ending, more like a beginning.

Post-Avengers Endgame, things have felt a little lacklustre. There’s been a few great shows, couple of good movies (and of course the phenomenal Spider-Man NWH) but there has also been many flops that I won’t detail, but there’s a lot. It feels almost like they’re going through a trial phase to test audience responses to certain characters or plots. They nailed it on the head with What If—If they had taken that format for live action after endgame and used it to build a team like the ‘Guardians of the Multiverse’ to fight a multiversal threat like Infinity Ultron it would have been pretty epic. Plus, more live action Captain Carter is a basic human right… but I digress.

Now that he plays a similar role to ‘The Watcher’, Loki season 3 has the opportunity to remedy the current state of the MCU, serving as an introduction for a new lineup of heroes destined to save the multiverse. Some we know from the comics(or variants of them) and some that are refreshingly new and inspired like Kahhori from season 2 of What If. I loved the Avengers, but we don’t need another Avengers saga. My Avengers are either gone, retired, or are being milked dry through pointless films and fan-service cameos.

I know this isn’t likely to happen considering their plans for phases 5 & 6 are already in motion, and I’m aware that Marvel could just build off what they’ve already given us in What If, but I’m really just looking for a way to utilise the potential that Loki has as the God of Stories.
