As comic book readers, who is the character you are fond of, but unknown to the general public, who most worried about the debut in the MCU and the reception of the public?

recently with the debut of Namor in the MCU I have experienced a bit of fear not so much in the adaptation of the character itself, but in the public reception. Namor is such an important character in Marvel comics, as an anti-hero and ruler of a kingdom, for his connection to the F4, to the mutants, to the Avengers, but also just for being one of the first superheroes created. I feared that the character on screen would become a living meme, just a guy with wings on his feet (which he is lol) and not be taken seriously or appreciated. For you, what was your experience in seeing a character dear to you suddenly become known to the general public? submitted by /u/TrpTrp26 [link] [comments]

Are there actually this many MCU Tie-In comics?

So I was interested in reading some/all of the MCU tie comics and while trying to look them up, i found this huge list on wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Cinematic_Universe_tie-in_comics#:~:text=The%20Marvel%20Cinematic%20Universe%20 (MCU,of%201%20to%204%20issues. My question is; Is the list of tie-in comics actually this long? Does anyone know if there are any omnibuses that include multiple/all (IE, All of the infinity saga, or all phase 1, 2, or 3, etc.?) Are there any that people recommend as adding legitimate benefit to their respective movies? submitted by /u/m_ashton9 [link] [comments]

Idea for an AU story where Thanos' method is different

So Thanos still wants to use the infinity stones to prevent overpopulation but this time his plan is to put limits on the population such as limiting lifespans e.g. once humans reach a certain age even if they're healthy they instantly drop dead, reducing fertility, etc. His inner circle of minions help him with managing the population. However, Thanos lets the power get to his head (yes I know he wasn't exactly the sanest person to begin with) and becomes more paranoid and tyrannical and different factions across the universe unite against him. Meanwhile Mephisto has infiltrated Thanos' inner circle and plans to take the gauntlet from Thanos. submitted by /u/fatherandyriley [link] [comments]

We already had the perfect Mr. Fantastic for main timeline MCU

John Krasinski was the absolute perfect casting for Reed Richard's until he went out like pulled meat. A big wasted opportunity. I didn't rewarch DS2 but did rewarch Wanda and Mr. fantastic scene more than a dozen times. I understand marvel wanted to give the fans a huge surprise but using Krasinski for a one shot movie still puts a bitter taste to my mouth. Really wished they would bring him back some way but with each day I realize that no plans are set for that future :( submitted by /u/Hentai_samurai01 [link] [comments]

Possible ironheart plot?

In wakanda forever Riri said she made the vibraniuk detector design specifically for metallurgy class. I think it’s possible the teacher either sold the design to the government or they just plain stole it while scouring ways to find vibranium either way the matter of how her idea was stolen by the government could be a possible plot line in her show. submitted by /u/Hedgewitch250 [link] [comments]

After seeing Jensen Ackles as Solider Boy in The Boys I think he would make a great Sentry!

The when we see him in the Boys with overgrown hair and beard It made me think of Sentry when he is hiding away from civ. Also I think Ackels could really work with the dark and depressing parts of Robert Reynolds character and his internal battle with the Void. How was Kang so wrong about Sylvie?

Rewatching Loki and in the finale Kang says he's been looking for his replacement for a long time so how did he get it so wrong with Sylvie? There is a point at which he can't see further into the future but he must have some idea as to the type of person needed to replace him. There is nothing Sylvie does to suggest she will do anything other than kill Kang so how did he get it so wrong? I assume the answer is because the writers needed it to happen to unleash Kangs variants but for a guy as competent as Kang I can't see how he could mess up that bad. I don't believe he would have dedicated his entire life to building and maintaining the TVA only to give it all up at his death so I don't think its intentional either. Any ideas I'm missing? submitted by /u/Dazzler_3000 [link] [comments]

Are there no special presentations this year?

I’ve watched a few interviews from the creator of Werewolf by Night and he said he’d been working on Werewolf by night for 3 years. As in from the moment Feige asked him to pick a marvel project to do with when it was released, it had been 3 years. Does that mean it’s impossible for their to be special presentation this year that we have no idea is being made yet? These things take years to make. By now we would know that there is one no matter how little marvel says about it. I guess the counter to this would be the Holiday special that Gunn said was tacked onto the making of GoTG vol 3. But no other projects in development seems to have this type of situation going on. I think these presentations will be MUCH Less frequent than some people think they will be. submitted by /u/AdeDamballa [link] [comments]

before Tony died, how was shuri the smartest in the world?

I saw a post around 2019 saying that the Russo brothers stated that shuri is the smartest (if this is false, let me know) how is she smarter than Tony...who made his own element, made a suit strong enough to make thanos bleed, replicate a gauntlet powerful enough to hold all the stones, AND INVENT TIME TRAVELING. I can understand NOW if shuri's the smartest since he's dead and it's been a few years so she's gained more knowledge, but back then??? I don't believe that she was smarter than Tony. Heck I'm surprise she's smarter than hank pym. submitted by /u/lifesyndrome [link] [comments]

My friend and I are trying to list all the languages spoken in the MCU. Help us out, who else actually speaks (not just claims to speak) another language (real or alien language) other than English. We are pretty terrible at this because there are a lot more, but so far we have: Cap America - French, German Natasha - Russian, Latin Nakia - Wakandan, Korean Ironman - French Thor - Groot Rocket - Groot Quill - Groot Shang Chi - Chinese Makkari - ASL submitted by /u/mellowmadre [link] [comments]

'Only Myself Left to Conquer' + Avengers: The Kang Dynasty

So I've been watching a lot of the Marvel-centric YouTubers' videos about Kang in Quantumania & how he might fit into Phases 5 & 6, and, surprisingly, none of them have touched on the story in 'Only Myself Left to Conquer.' I left the spoiler flair, but I want to just reiterate that I'll be talking about some spoilers in 'Only Myself' (which I can't recommend enough esp. if you're generally a fan of time-loop stories) and Loki/Moon Knight season 1. For context, I thought some of the Phase 4 shows/films seemed a bit disjointed, speaking only in terms of setting up Kang(s) as a growing threat across future properties. I think my biggest worry was that with all the new characters/teams that have been introduced, a lot of the classic heroes/villains that have yet to enter 616 (especially new X-Men and F4 + Silver Surfer/Galactus) might be kind of be narratively shoehorned in through Kang's multiverse/time travel shenanigans. But reading

How was Loki not meant to escape in Endgame?

In Loki , Judge Renslayer says that he was never meant to escape, but what the Avengers did while traveling through time was all meant to happen. We later learn that He Who Remains paved the road for Loki to arrive before him, so that begs the question: did the Avengers succeed in walking away with the Tesseract in the sacred timeline every other time? Time is linear, it’s a loop. If what the Avengers did was supposed to happen but Loki escaping was not, then does that mean in every other instance in which these events play out, Hulk never bursts through the door, knocks Tony down, and gives Loki a chance to escape? If this is how the events play out in every instance, then it wouldn’t make sense to say Loki wasn’t meant to escape. How would they have avoided Hulk smashing through the staircase in the original flow of events in the sacred timeline? Maybe Tony was just slightly faster and got passed the door before Hulk busts through? All of this means that if the events of Endgame a

What is your ultimate takeaway on Stephen Strange's character in the MCU?

Mine is that Stephen is a carefully crafted, expertly portrayed three-dimensional fictional human being, that, with several minor writing hiccups, has been developed exceptionally well from his base presentation in the first scene of Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange (2016). Yes, he does have two similar characters arcs in his standalone features. And no, these are not the same arcs in the end. No, I do not think NWH hurt his character in the slightest. Yes, I think he was actually built upon and utilized optimally there. Now, how about you? submitted by /u/Bruhmangoddman [link] [comments]

Secret Invasion Theory: The Skrulls Filled the Power Vacuum Created by the Blip on Earth

I posted this in a comment in another thread today and I realized I have never made a post about this theory of mine. Feige said last years that we'll explore the blip years a little more in Secret Invasion (the show is taking place post-blip, but I guess he means that we'll see extended flashbacks and learn more about what happened during the time). That lead me and others to believe that the Skrulls will start taking over Earth during the blip and it honestly makes a ton of sense and is a clever way to address a ton of questions about the blip. There was definitely a lot of sociopolitical turmoil during the 5 years of the blip, especially in the beginning, that we sadly never got to explore. My headcanon has always been that the Avengers worked tirelessly during those 5 years to stabilize society. I mean we learnt in TFATWS that all countries opened up their borders during the blip and let people move into blipped people's apartments and take blipped people's job

Iron Man Mini Review

Image
I'm doing a rewatch of phase one of the MCU as part of an ongoing project, and I thought I'd share my thoughts on each of these films on this subreddit. We start with Iron Man! https://preview.redd.it/89w8cu1rgfea1.jpg?width=510&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b398ee8c9378d19c74a88cdf9637dd158208629 Iron Man Score: 6 Out of 7 Stars I have very few complaints about this almost flawless superhero film. It's a great start to an incredible depiction of the Marvel comics on the big screen. It blows my mind how almost all of this film was adlibbed, considering that I usually hate extended riffing in most movies with a comedic lean. I do have one major complaint about the film, along with the usual complaints people make about this film. I think the first act where the film sets up Tony Stark becoming Iron Man while kidnapped by terrorists does go on for a long time. It's immensely enjoyable, especially with Shaun Toub's underrated performance, but I feel t

Jessica Jones - The darkest part of the MCU

I just finished the second season. Although I didn't like it as much as the first season (tho that's partly because of the lack of Killgrave), but it still was great. What really makes this show stand out, even amongst the other Defenders-Shows, is how dark, depressing, pessimistic and mature it is. Yes, Daredevil is dark too, but in a very different way than JJ. JJ's handling of themes like mental health problems, depression, addiction, grief and loss is outstanding and hit home close. You can feel and relate the pain and struggles Jessica is going through. She has never really dealt or coped with the loss of her family or the trauma she got from Killgrave. She went through a life full of loss and abuse and never recovered from that. Watching this show really is depressing as hell and in many ways very relatable for me as someone who has gone through or encountered similar struggles. submitted by /u/68ideal [link] [comments]

Whatever happened with the allegations against Yusuf Khan’s actor?

Seeing what just happened with Justin Roiland and Adult Swim made me remember this. I remember hearing about the sexual harassment allegation claims against Mohan Kapoor two months ago from this sub, and haven’t heard anything about it since then. Marvel/Disney doesn’t seem to have acknowledged it or spoken about what impact this will have (Like if they recast him for The Marvels and season 2 of Ms. Marvel) He may be playing a minor character overall when compared to Justin Roiland’s role in Rick and Morty, but it still feels like something should be said. What exactly happened with that whole situation? It feels a bit messed up if they are trying to minimize any coverage on the situation. submitted by /u/Antman269 [link] [comments]

What’s the deal w “M-She-U?”

Forgive me for being eons late to the conversation, but I try to stay above the racist/mysogistic chatter on the internet. Is the whole m-she-u argument really just that we neckbeards, living in our (metaphorical) mother’s basements are mad bc the studio is retconning characters to be more inclusive according to race and gender? Putting vaginas where there traditionally have been penises and whatnot? I’ve saw some chatter about the writing and the DD walk of shame in She-Hulk. Lol. Gotta say that made me laugh quite a bit. And the show wasn’t FOR me. It was directed at my wife, who loved it. I watched Ms. Marvel w my 7yo son and he had a blast. Far more than i did. I guess what I’m asking is : is the hubbub really just a bunch of entitled grown men bitching bc they don’t want strong female characters and shows not directly aimed at them???? submitted by /u/EB123456789101112 [link] [comments]

Not too sure how beaten this horse has been, and I obviously don't expect Scotts pals to be shrunk down in the Quantum Realm, but has there been any word on if any of Scott's friends will be involved in the film at all? I'm also very curious as to how they would play these characters out considering the events of the Thanos decimation, the time passed, and the likelihood of the new film being mostly taken place in the Quantum Realm, as per the title. submitted by /u/AlexTheGreat-711 [link] [comments]

i feel like Peter Parker being the eldest experienced hero of the next generations of the younger heroes was a huge potential lost

Marvel Studios missed the mark of making MCU Spider-Man the Steve Rogers-esque of being a senior veteran hero of the coming of age heroes in MCU, going from being the youngest hero of the original Avengers to being the eldest experienced hero to the young avengers (and a possible mentor figure to them) would be a amazing evolution to Tom's Spider-Man and it's unfortunate Marvel Studios/Kevin Feige didn't explore that theme if the they didn't clinch in Peter being in highschool for so long. submitted by /u/Glad-Nerve8232 [link] [comments]

Sam being one of the “big 4” or leader or whatever moving forward is really gonna hurt the franchise

I’ll be the first to admit I’ve lost a lot of interest in marvel since Endgame but Kang has reignited my interest. Moving forward though, the question becomes who replaces Tony and Cap? I think everything is shaping up for it to be Sam, and I just think that’s an awful choice. I think the number one problem is Anthony Mackie. I like him as an actor, but IMO his ceiling is what his role has been - a side character and a friend to the main character. I don’t see him carrying any franchise movie, let alone this one. I’ve found most of the Marvel TV shows to be pretty good and enjoyable but the new Captain America show was by far the most boring to me, and to be honest I cared way more about Bucky than Sam submitted by /u/Mybitchmyhoemyhoemy [link] [comments]

I’m confused about the time travel in Endgame. Are the earlier time points frozen in time?

When Peter Quill wakes up in 2014 in the alternate timeline, the power stone will be there because Cap would have put it back. So of course then, the timelines don’t run parallel to each other. Cap could wait ten years in the original timeline then go back to that timeline and put the stone back. It’s not like that timeline was continuing for 10 years simultaneously. So in that sense, that timeline is frozen for 10 years our time. Even if it was 100 years or 1000 years before the stone is put back to that timeline. So what if Cap never brings the stone back? Does that timeline never go on? Is it just frozen forever? Or does it continue without the stone? I mean really, there’s an infinite amount of time for the stone to be put back. submitted by /u/Spider-Man-fan [link] [comments]

They should simply invite Adam and a crew from Tested to come in, embed themselves with the production at a few points along the way, and put together a few 30-60min specials to publish on both Disney+ and Tested's YouTube channel. Have one for props, one for sets, one for filming, one for VFX, and one talking to the actors about their favorite parts of the whole production. submitted by /u/DurMan667 [link] [comments]

Ant-Man Theory...

Hey so this is prob not a novel idea, I don't think anyway...but has anyone considered that the Quantum Realm was literally built as a 'cage'/prison specifically for Kang the Conqueror, and it's the only place that can hold him indefinitely. it's not just some realm in space/time that was organically created, it WAS created, maybe by another Kang variant, to hold the 'evil' kang the conqueror. submitted by /u/ReliableThrowaway [link] [comments]

What's the Second Best Second Movie in a Marvel Series?

Most people would agree Winter Soldier is the best direct sequel in the MCU. But what's the second best ? I'm only considering the second film in each sub-series, so you've got: Iron Man 2 Avengers: Age of Ultron Thor: The Dark World Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Ant-Man and the Wasp Spider-Man: Far From Home Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Black Panther: Wakanda Forever If you want to go outside the MCU, you might also consider: Spider-Man 2 Blade II X2: X-Men United Punisher: War Zone Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer The Wolverine The Amazing Spider-Man 2 X-Men: Days of Future Past * Deadpool 2 Venom: Let There Be Carnage Interestingly, sequels in the Distinguished Competition are often (not always) better than the original: Superman II Batman Returns Dark Knight *This could also be considered the fourth film of the original X-Men series, but I'm taking this as a

Deadpool 3 will be an adaptation of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"

The TVA basically abolished the Fox-verse and deadpool and Wolverine team-up to fight TVA and restore the universe. or they can merge their universe and make it seem like X-Men was in the MCU the whole time so we can say that X-Men (2000) is the first MCU movie. Think about how do you think they will bring back Wolverine say it is the same one from Logan (2017) nah, he is gonna be a variant that Deadpool will find. Or it can be an adaptation of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" The movie will feature Mr. Sinister, in order to tie up that loose end when FOX's universe ends. It will also feature a team-up with Chris Evans as Captain America and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, who will, as a meta joke on the supposed finality of Logan, be very grumpy about being dragged out of retirement. The movie will be a loving tribute and parody to the Fox X-verse, and will lampshade the living fuck out of the fact that Deadpool and the Avengers have supposedly coexisted for years, and yet

Spider-Man 4 Title card done by me. I hope we get to explore not just a street-level threat but the Symbiote left behind at the end of No Way Home.
