With the Oscars less than 24 hours way, I wanted to ask what are some MCU performances that you feel should've been nominated for an Oscar, but didn't stand a chance because of genre bias?
It's well known that the Academy Awards hold a bias against comic book films unless your Black Panther or Joker. Even The Dark Knight missed best picture.
Last year, Angela Bassett became the first person to be nominated for an acting Oscar for an MCU movie. As much as most of us probably believe that nomination was well deserved, I think most of us could probably also agree that it shouldn't have taken so long. So who would you have nominated previously if you had the choice?
Here's a few that I would've considered:
- Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man
- Tom Hiddleston in Thor
- Michael Rooker in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
- Michael B. Jordan in Black Panther
- Chukwudi Iwuji in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
