PART 5: a love for metaphors If Ego had been lying about Peter’s powers (see part 4), it is still unclear what that light actually is. At first glance it appears to be a metaphor for celestial power. However, Ego’s other children despite having Ego’s genes did not have the Light. Ego definitely rule that out. Only Peter had! Luckily, Ego also gave a short history lesson about himself and with that, unintentional, give away more than he intended. While explaining his origins, he starts with “First thing I remember is flickering, adrift in the cosmos…". The “flickering” sounds a lot like pulsation that neurons do. Not surprisingly, because he shows himself as a floating brain, the brain as a part of the central nervous system. Now, “adrift in the cosmos”, that sounds like Wong’s explanation on the Infinity Stones in the Infinity War. “The Big Bang sent six elemental crystals, hurtling across the virgin universe”. So we have a Celestial adrift in the cosmos and then infinity stones hurtling across the universe… Adrift and hurtling, they describe the same thing, a matter of the perspective, and cosmos and universe are synonyms . That made me think that, What if… when the universe exploded into existence and the stones were sent across the universe, the one stone representing life was carried by a Celestial? Although the Celestial origin is not yet fully explained, they are clearly at the roots of the universe’ existence, as are the Infinity Stones. And by this time into the MCU, with GotG Vol. 2, just a year before IW was release, we had seen all stones except one! So imagine if one Celestial carried a light, the light, is actually a metaphor for the Soul Stone? The usage of the word ‘light’ for one’s soul, one’s consciousness, is not uncommon. So why not when it comes to the soul of the universe? Likely unknowingly to Ego, he carried indeed a light that was actually the Soul Stone. I know, it is an outrageous theory knowing that Thanos (and Hawkeye) got the Soul Stone on Vormir, which appeared to be IW's MacGuffin. Yet, it becomes a little bit less crazy when you know that Infinity Stones creators are the four Cosmic Entities. We see in the artwork on the Temple Vault in Morag that the four Cosmic Entities surround the six Infinity Stones and it looks that Eternity has some link with the Soul Stone. It appears she lays her hand on that stone, like guiding or navigating it? Combine that with the fact that Ego had a connection with Eternity. A connection Peter has as well. So join me, let’s imagine the following origin story of the soul stone: Yes, that would mean Peter’s random nervous system anomaly is the BIG EASTER EGG, right in front of us! Like a true magician James Gunn showed us the Soul Stone, without us even realizing it, too distracted by the Power Stone. It seems in the heat of the moment, Ego wasn’t not lying about a few more things he said "You cannot deny the purpose the universe has bestowed upon you [Peter].... stop pretending you arent what you are. One in billions. Trillions!" And think about it, if all the stones were in some form of vessel or container, wouldn’t it be great that the one stone representing life would be in a living being, a human soul. And that would also complete the THANOS fan theory. Which is the theory that the first letters of the containments of the infinity stones spell out THANOS. I know, the N of the necklace remains disputed because it’s called ‘eye of agamotto’. At the same time, it remains a necklace – as a generic description of the object itself. Which is the same for the others: a tesseract, aether, an orb, a sceptre and now finally a human, with human as the generic description of our species. So it’s not the names, as unique identifiers, of the containments that spell out THANOS, but it’s the generic object description of those containments that spell THANOS. [link] [comments] |
