Shouldn't Wong be fired for telling Wanda about Wundegore?

Wanda's copy of the Darkhold was destroyed. Her plan was foiled. The threat to the multiverse, while not ended, was severely lessened.

Yet Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, caves after Wanda tortures four students, and he tells her about Wundegore.

I assumed Wong had some plan or ploy. That he knew some way to defeat or contain Wanda if he got her to Wundegore. Or that he was straight up lying.

But no. He just... told her. Knowing it would empower her, potentially beyond all hope of stopping her.

Wong, who used to guard the most important, dangerous books in the Ancient One's library. The Sorcerer Supreme.

I would think he would be wiing to sacrifice all of Earth to stop her from threatening other universes.

Seems like it would have been better to just have Wanda magically extract the info from his mind.

But no, better to assassinate yet another character's integrity.
