Agent Venom in the MCU — a proposition
So, this obviously sidesteps the conversation of Agent Venom as a character in the SSU, though that could be another solid idea, if Flash from TAS became Agent Venom and Secret Wars shenanigans or whatever. My concept here changes Agent Venom in a way similar to how many characters are reimagined and/or combined for the MCU.
Supposedly we’re not really getting many rated R movies, none beyond Deadpool afaik, so there’s a question about how certain character treatments will go. The MCU’s Venom not being R can work just fine for me, with him appearing in a mainline Spider-Man movie (ideally with Mac Gargan) and all, but there’s another character who an R rating is well-suited for.. unless he’s also placed in a movie where he’s not the sole focus. My proposition here is for the MCU’s Venom symbiote to wind up on Spider-Man turned Black Suit, Scorpion turned Venom, and — ultimately— Punisher turned Agent Venom.
Now obviously I want to see Frank just be Frank for a while, but that’s exactly why this can work so well. Frank’s introduction in the Daredevil show or perhaps in Cap 4 could lead to minor appearances in other features (Midnight Sons, PLEASE??). That gives plenty of time for the symbiote to have a brief stint with Peter before going off to Gargan in the Dark Avengers, and then to Punisher at some later date.
With the Guardians roster getting shaken up significantly in GotG 3, it’s going to need some buy-in and staying power to continue, especially if under new hands. That said, the introduction of a dark character like Agent Venom/Punisher might be something for Gunn to get excited for. Whatever happens as far as the creative team that works on GotG4, or whoever includes them in a future team up or event, having this new addition to the roster could definitely bring new life and increased interest to the GotG IP.
Tl;dr - Frank Castle as Agent Venom later in the MCU, once we get solid Spidey/Scorpion Venom arcs and introduction as well as some appearances for Punisher.
