Regarding Ms. Marvel's powers: Theories, Rumours and the Discussion of Comic Accuracy

Guys, I think Marvel Studios doesn't want to anger any of their fans, especially considering how much of a comic book fan Feige is himself. But they also likely want Kamala's powers to feel more similar to Carol and Monica's both for visual and symbolic unity and probably for Kamala to feel more like she's become her idol and not some random, generic hero.

Kamala becoming a hero with powers similar to Carol's will put her in a position where she'll feel like the world is on her shoulders and she has to match Carol in every way, making for a good character arc.

But fear not comic book fans, because in the trailers, it's obvious SHE IS STILL STRETCHY, but whenever her limbs are stretched, they also glow.

So I think the bracelet is the Nega Band, the Kree artifact from the comics that lets you transform your mental energy to physical energy essentially granting the wearer's wishes.

MTTSH, a very reliable leaker, had said some months ago that they've made Kamala a Djinn, and the bracelets help her construct what she wishes for.

I don't know whether the Djinn thing will end up staying true (even if it sometime during production it were), because many Muslims have reacted negatively to it.

But to keep her powers innate and similar to her Inhuman powers (because that plays a huge role in her arc, since she can't change who she is, which is the moral of her whole story), if she's not a Djinn, I think she'll be half-Kree, which would explain why she's able to use the nega band, which would also connect her to Carol (and the story of The Marvels) more.

With that, they essentially keep the same origin story: she has innate powers (Inhuman in the comics, Djinn or Kree in the MCU) -> a superanatural event helps her activate those powers (the terrigen in the comics, the Nega Band in the MCU) -> she becomes stretchy (which is important to her character as well, because it symbolizes the body changes that teenagers go through) -> she has to accept that she can't change who she is, which also applies to her skin color and ethnicity, which she is bullied for and feels self-conscious about.

They simply added an extra layer which is the stronger connection to Carol and potentially to the Kree, which may come in handy during the Marvels.

THEY DIDN'T TAKE AWAY ANYTHING FROM THE CHARACTER!
