MCU's Muddy Morality

While the superhero genre is filled to the brim with morally grey/questionable characters, the MCU seems to excel in that. Not to mention its recent predilection for pushing these murky, grey characters as the new heroic figures. And a question immediately arises: Isn't that problematic?

I'm sure you're all familiar with the cases of US Agent, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Loki and Spider-Man. These characters have received a LOT of criticism from the fanbase over the last two years. Some of them were accused of being irresponsible and hot-headed, others were implied to have had legitimately malicious intentions. And to an extent, the fans were right. They pointed out the shortcomings of the heroic wave with great accuracy. Not only that, it was quickly noticed how movies/shows themselves seem to gloss over the characters' mistakes. How easy it is for Wanda to fly away scot-free and suffer no harm. How Peter is still a hero despite not being fit for that mantle. How Clint, John and Loki were quickly redeemed and reintegrated into their tribes/societies. And the actual benefactors of the MCU, like Bruce Banner (the resurrector of countless trillions of beings!), Stephen Strange and Scott Lang seem to be fading into obscurity. Maybe I'm reaching as far as Strange is concerned, but I'm still annoyed that he doesn't seem to be the front and center of his upcoming film.

What are your thoughts?
