What was the colonel trying to prove in the grenade scene in Captain America: The First Avenger?
He wants Hodge over Rogers because he’s a better solider and more fit, then he says winning wars takes guts before throwing the dummy grenade. My question is what did he think would happen? Was he expecting Hodge to jump on the grenade instead of Rogers? It makes for a great character moment for Cap, but on initial watch, I don’t see the point for the grenade other than to see how fast they can run away.
